Kerwin’s Milk Marketing Bill Heads to Governor’s Desk
October 7, 2026
DAUPHIN – Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) announced his milk marketing legislation, House Bill 1006, passed the Senate unanimously today. The bill, which updates Pennsylvania’s Milk Marketing Law and simplifies the milk certification timeline, now heads to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law.
“Agriculture is one of Pennsylvania’s leading industries. Supporting dairy professionals and passing legislation relating to this field helps strengthen the entire Commonwealth,” Kerwin said. “I’m pleased my bill was well-received by all members of the General Assembly and look forward to House Bill 1006 receiving the Governor’s signature.”
Milk testers, weighers and samplers are required to renew their certifications every year. House Bill 1006 will make the renewal process occur every two years, reduce paperwork and streamline the process for Pennsylvania’s dairy industry. It will also remove outdated fees from 1937.
