Kerwin Secures Major Grant Dollars Dedicated to 125th District
January 20, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin) announced $1.66 million in state funding will be allocated to the 125th District to assist with five improvement projects.
Gratz Borough is obtaining $800,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) to make pedestrian safety improvements along Market Street and Route 25.
The following entities will receive funding from the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program:
• Dauphin Borough - $290,000 to improve the aging infrastructure at the borough's wastewater treatment plant. This includes the replacement of an outdated blower, corroded piping, an obsolete Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and deteriorating wiring.
• Halifax Area Water and Sewer Authority – $275,000 to install a new booster pump station and new electrical components.
• Elizabethville Area Authority – $200,000 to make critical upgrades to its system, which has experienced an increased number of issues – such as water main breaks – along Smith Avenue and Main Street.
• Pillow Borough Authority – $100,000 to replace the Cold Spring Line.
“When we focus on improving infrastructure through these grant programs, we are investing in the future success of our communities,” said Kerwin. “I am grateful to see these critical dollars come to the 125th District, and I will continue to advocate for future projects in our district.”
The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. Funds may be used toward construction, improvement, expansion or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.
The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.
