HARRISBURG - Rep. Joe Kerwin (R-Dauphin/Schuylkill) released the following statement upon his return home from a recent Pennsylvania National Guard activation to Washington, D.C., for the presidential inauguration:
“My National Guard unit and I are home safe after completing our mission in Washington, D.C. I am extremely proud of the sacrifices that National Guard members have made in the last few weeks. My unit and countless other units worked around the clock with little rest to secure key infrastructure and to support civil authorities.
“While I was away for the last two weeks, I have stayed in touch with my district and Harrisburg offices to make sure that the work of the 125th District was being attended to. My highly competent district staff have kept me up to date with all issues and they have continued to serve constituents in my absence.
“Due to COVID-19 spreading among National Guard members in Washington, D.C., I will be implementing a period of quarantine in line with CDC guidelines. I do not have any symptoms and I have passed COVID-19 screening, but I want to do everything that I can to guarantee the safety of my colleagues in Harrisburg, my staff, and you and your families.
“In the meantime, I will work remotely and ensure that I am remotely present in Harrisburg during session days to cast my vote. I am glad to be back and I am thankful for all the well wishes my soldiers and I received while in Washington and upon our return. The selfless members of the Pennsylvania Army and Air National Guard are a continual source of pride for the Commonwealth.”
